Message from George Marcinak
Monday, June 10, 2019
At the Regular Monthly Meeting on Thursday, June 6, 2019 Brother Marcinak addressed the crowd. He would like to share his sentiments for those who were unable to attend.
It’s been a great honor and a humbling experience for me, having you, the members, backing me to be one of your officers for the past 15 years. I can’t thank you enough!
In my role as a business agent, I have always tried to do the right things. Priority number one, improving the lives of our members and their families. When you protect our trade and jurisdiction, it is protecting all of us.
Throughout these 15 years, I have seen many positive and negative changes for our members and their families. To see everyone come together in support of one another is incredible. There are no measures we won’t take to help one another out. A negative change made not only in society, but in our very own local, is how much harm one’s words can bring via social media. When people forget how to speak to each other face to face and revert to posting their own personal thoughts and opinions (true or not) on social media, it leaves a segregation between sides. That is not what we stand for. Definition of Union: the action or fact of joining or being joined; or a club, society, or association formed by people with a common interest or purpose. It’s time that we take that back and start working together, not against each other.
With that said, I wish nothing but the best of health and happiness to all of you. Keep coming home as safe from work as you left in the morning.
