Ullico Breach
Published on Wednesday, August 14, 2019
In April 2019, the Union Labor Life Insurance Company (Ullico), the Fund’s former provider of stop loss and life insurance products, suffered a data breach that resulted in the potential exposure of protected health information involving 1,280 participants of the Welfare Fund. We understand that Ullico has timely notified all impacted individuals regarding what had occurred and the steps they may take to protect their personal information. One such step is the enrollment in free credit monitoring and identity protection services offered by Ullico through Equifax. We urge you to take advantage of the free credit monitoring services, if you received a notice from Ullico that you were affected by the data breach.
In total, between our Plan and other Ullico clients, there were over 87,000 people that were impacted by this breach. We have added a sample notice that was mailed out to the participants of the Local 281 Welfare Plan, that were affected by this breach. If you received the Ullico breach notice, please call toll-free 855-543-5394 with any questions.
