Membership Letter May 5, 2025 - (6/11/2025)
Sprinkler Fitters Union Local 281, U.A. held its Nomination of Officers at the notified, regular monthly meeting held on Thursday, May 1, 2025. All members nominated for all offices were unopposed, therefore they shall be sworn in for the term of 3 years at the July 2025, meeting. By virtue of un-opposition, no election will take place in June. The new Officers to be sworn in for the term beginning on July 1, 2025, are as follows:
President - Neal McLaughlin
Vice-President - Bill Hincks, Jr.
Financial Secretary/Business Manager - Bryan LaRoche
Recording Secretary - John Prindeville
Business Representatives (3) - Dan Casey, Bob Cline, Jr. and Mike Coughlin
Sergeant at Arms - Chris Rosenlund
Executive Board (4) - Kevin Connolly, Jr., Nick Grage, Bob Scott and Pat Sharpe
Finance Committee (3) - Nick Driscoll, Tony Galassi and Dave Puchalski
Examining Board (3) - Jason Bruzek, Joe Gibbons and Dan O'Leary
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, there is an economic increase of $4.25 per hour effective July 1, 2025. The members present at the June 5, 2025, regular monthly meeting will vote to allocate the $4.25 per hour increase. Motions will be taken from the floor for the allocation of this increase and then voted on by the members present. All Journeymen and Journeywomen members, 4th year and 5th year Apprentices, in good standing, will be eligible to vote on the allocation of the economic increase. The proposal receiving the most votes will be effective July 1, 2025. The members and signatory contractors will be notified of the results.
The July 4th holiday falls on Friday this year. All work performed on Friday, July 4, 2025, shall be at the double time rate.
The Annual Local 281, U.A. Open House will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The Open House will be held at the Union Office, 11900 South Laramie Avenue, Alsip, Illinois. We will have live music, bounce houses, face painters, etc. Food and refreshments will be served. All members and their families are invited to attend.
The Local 281, U.A. Training Department offers a variety of continuing education classes for Journeymen and Journeywomen Members. If you are in need, or are interested in continuing education, you can sign up for continuing education classes on our website www.sprinklerfitterchicago.org or on the Local 281, U.A. App. Please visit the members only section on our website and click on "continuing education," or the "Training and Apprenticeship" on the App and select the class you wish to take. If there are no classes currently scheduled, sign up for the "waitlist" and we will contact you once we have enough requests for a class.
