The 41st United Association General Convention is scheduled for August 17-21, 2026, in San Diego, California. Local 281 will be allowed 17 elected Delegates as per the United Association Constitution. Nominations for U.A. Convention Delegates will be held at the January 8, 2026, regular monthly meeting and the election will be held at the regular February meeting to be held on February 5, 2026, by secret ballot per Sec. 15 of the U.A. Constitution. In the event of a tie vote, the runoff election will be held at the regular monthly March meeting to be held on March 5, 2026.
In order to be eligible to be elected to serve as a Delegate or Alternate to the Convention, a Journeyman Member must be a Member in good standing of Local 281 for the two (2) continuous years previous to the election and remain in good standing from the time of the election through the period of the convention.
As outlined in Section 124 of the United Association Constitution, any member who is a journeyman or apprentice who has completed their third year that has been a member in good standing of Local 281 for a period of at least one (1) year immediately prior to the election shall be eligible to nominate a candidate or vote. Any member who is a journeyman or apprentice who has completed their third year who owes or has paid a reinstatement fee within a period of one (1) year immediately prior to the date of the election shall not be eligible to nominate a candidate or to vote in any Local Union election.
