Additional Disability Benefits Available!

The MCL has partnered with
GBA Benefits & Met Life to offer short term disability insurance. With Short-Term Disability Insurance
protection offered to non-retired union members by MetLife through the
Midwest Coalition of Labor, you can receive up to $250 or $500 per week of
tax-free income in the event that you become sick or injured - on or off
the job! These benefits are in addition to any other benefits you receive
through your union, workers compensation, and any other plans you have.
The Short-Term Disability
open enrollment is available now and will close at the end of March 2024
for current members. New
members will have the opportunity to sign up after they start, and we’ll have
more information on that soon.
BASIC OVERVIEW

Weeks of Benefit per Occurrence.
- Benefit
is Tax Free.
- Benefit
is in addition to anything the member receives through the union or
workers’ compensation.
- Cost -
$250 per week benefit is $13.75 per month. $500 per week benefit is
$27.50 per month.
- Covers
any disability, both on the job or off the job, that prevents a member
from working.
- No
medical questions or exams during the first-time member enrolls.
